Chapter 21: Eruption
I set sail with my heart in my stomach. The raft worked! It stayed afloat and that’s all it needed to do in my opinion.
It looked like I’d have to find my way around the island. The directions Rhinehart gave me around Volcano Island were out of date. I had to find a new way. Turning back is not an option.
I hoped the staff was the only thing living in that hollow tree. It was. I found the Staff of Tuzu exactly where Rhinehart’s “legend” said it’d be.
This didn’t look good. Again, I was forced to find my own way around the island. A volcanic tremor blocked my old path.
I found another survivor from the Solomon Queen, Bart Pittman. This guy was in pretty rough shape. I doubted I’d be able to help him, but at least I could keep him company for a bit. He died right in front of me, but not before he implicated a “professor” in sabotaging the Queen. I have a bad feeling that Rhinehart is responsible for the shipwreck.
I sailed, paddled and pushed the raft back to the main island as quickly as I could. When I returned to the Village Harbour, I could see that the disease had been spreading.
