Chapter 16: The Cat’s Meow
I was off to find a leaf in the jungle. I picked a Nepeta leaf for Mata. At least, I’m pretty sure it’s the right leaf. I’ll find out soon enough. I mean, for all I know I just garnished myself with jaguar parsley.
I needed to relax. If cats can sense fear, then this one should’ve been on sensory overload as I approached. The leaf worked like a charm—a herbal charm. Mata turned out to be a total pussycat. Now I can finally get into the cursed Forbidden Village. What am I thinking?
Tame jaguar guardian—check. Travel to the cursed forbidden village—check. Entering the Forbidden Village, it dawned on me how many villagers must have lost their lives here. This place fills me with a deep sadness and sense of loss. I can’t imagine how the tribe must feel.
