Chapter 22: Let My Love Open the Door
I had to find a cure. I had to open the temple. Rhinehart was waiting for me at the House of Tuzu.
I wanted to find out what game Rhinehart had been playing with me. I confronted Rhinehart about what Pittman told me. He showed his true colours. The nice, old mentor figure is actually pure evil incarnate. No wonder he didn’t mind living with Hugh.
Could I trust Rhinehart? I didn’t have a choice. I had to try to save Timoti and the others. Rhinehart told me how to use the staff to open the temple. I should have known there wouldn’t be a cure inside. Instead, the temple was filled with trasure and Tuku Tuzu’s youth potion. I saw Rhinehart grow younger after drinking from the Chalice of Days.
All this time Rhinehart was just using me—and all the others. I couldn’t let him get away with that. It was time for the evil Professor Rhinehart to receive his comeuppance. I used the staff of Tuzu to give Rhinehart exactly what he deserved.
I’d have to go back to the Village Harbour without a cure. I returned to the Village Harbour with my heart weighing heavy. I felt like I had let everyone down.
