Knock Knock

When I was working on my presentation one night, I heard someone knocking on my front door. It’s 11:58 PM, two more minutes to 12 midnight. Who could it be, I thought to myself. My parents are away and I’ll be home alone for the next 3 days. You see, when I was young I encountered something unusual and now I’m afraid to stay home alone.

I got up and walked down my hallway that leads to the door. My hallway is dimmed with lights, the living hall is dark, and so does the kitchen that’s connected from the living hall. As I looked out of the peep hole, there’s no one there. Probably some ignorant teenagers who are trying to seek some fun in the night by scaring the people around the neighborhood.

I then went back into my room and continued with what I was doing. I have yet to finish my work, so I guess I’ll be staying up late today.

It’s 1:58 AM now, I’m getting a little bit sleepy so I got up to the kitchen to make myself some hot chocolate, hopefully it’ll keep me awake for a little while more until I finished my work. I heard someone knocking on my door again while waiting for the water to boil. How strange, who could it be at this hour? I thought to myself. I’m feeling a bit anxious now, as this was what happened when I was younger back then that made me so afraid to be home alone and never did I actually stayed up late unless I needed to do my work.

I dimmed my kitchen light and hopefully the person would think that I’m asleep or assume that I did not hear the knocking. I stayed low until I heard another knock. The knocks are getting louder and harder- becoming more like a banging of the door, as if that person is trying to break in.

I’m scared. I slowly walked up to my room, sneakily, to seek security. The knock stopped. I went back to my table to continue with my work.

It’s 2:58 AM now, I’m done with my work. I’ll just have to save it and I’m ready for bed. The knock comes again, who could it be? Knocking on my door at this hour. I’m so afraid to walk down my hallway to the door.

I turned my lights off but leave my table lamp on for security purposes. I laid on my bed quietly, wanting the person who is knocking on my door would go away, and at the same time as I try to fall asleep.

The knocking stopped , it’s 3:01 AM now. Wow it’s late and sure is creepy- you know, people says that ghosts are extremely active at this hour. As I was about to fall asleep, I heard a footstep crackling up the stairs. Remember- I’m home alone and I don’t have any pets. I froze on my bed, I couldn’t move. I told you I was afraid to be home alone because of what happened in my younger days and I felt like I’m back in those days now.

The clock is ticking slowly, it’s going to be a long night. I’m a child again. I blinked and he’s on top of me , those red blood shot eyes and disgusting sharp teeth. I looked over him to saw what was writing on the ceiling- “we meet again”- I’m going to die.

A Wish Come True (A Short Story)

I woke up with a start when I found myself in a very unfamiliar place. The bed I was lying on was grand—an English-quilting blanket and 2 soft pillows with flowery laces. The whole place was fit for a king! Suddenly the door opened and there stood my dream prince: Katsuya Kimura! I gasped in astonishment for he was actually a cartoon character. I did not know that he really exist. “Wake up, dear,” he said and pulled off the blanket and handed it to a woman who looked like the maid. “You will be late for work.” “Work?” I asked. “Yes! Work! Have you forgotten your own comic workhouse, baby dear?” Comic workhouse?! I…I have became a cartoonist? That was my wildest dreams! Being a cartoonist! I undressed and changed into my beige T-shirt and black trousers at once and hurriedly finished my breakfast. Katsuya drove me to the workhouse. My, my, was it big! I’ve never seen a bigger place than this! Katsuya kissed me and said, “See you at four, OK, baby?” I blushed scarlet. I always wan...

Hans and Hilda

Once upon a time there was an old miller who had two children who were twins. The boy-twin was named Hans, and he was very greedy. The girl-twin was named Hilda, and she was very lazy. Hans and Hilda had no mother, because she died whilst giving birth to their third sibling, named Engel, who had been sent away to live wtih the gypsies. Hans and Hilda were never allowed out of the mill, even when the miller went away to the market. One day, Hans was especially greedy and Hilda was especially lazy, and the old miller wept with anger as he locked them in the cellar, to teach them to be good. "Let us try to escape and live with the gypsies," said Hans, and Hilda agreed. While they were looking for a way out, a Big Brown Rat came out from behind the log pile. "I will help you escape and show you the way to the gypsies' campl," said the Big Brown Rat, "if you bring me all your father's grain." So Hans and Hilda waited until their father let them out, ...

I've Learned...

Written by Andy Rooney, a man who had the gift of saying so much with so few words. Rooney used to be on 60 Minutes TV show. I've learned.... That the best classroom in the world is at the feet of an elderly person. I've learned.... That when you're in love, it shows. I've learned .... That just one person saying to me, 'You've made my day!' makes my day. I've learned.... That having a child fall asleep in your arms is one of the most peaceful feelings in the world. I've learned.... That being kind is more important than being right. I've learned.... That you should never say no to a gift from a child. I've learned.... That I can always pray for someone when I don't have the strength to help him in any other way. I've learned.... That no matter how serious your life requires you to be, everyone needs a friend to act goofy with. I've learned.... That sometimes all a person needs is a hand to hold and a heart to understand. I...
