The Beasties Saga: Part 1-Night in Hauntsville

This is where it all began. The start of the whole story. This is where ours truly The Beasties met the demented Benedict the gardener. Fay, Lan, Heendra, Eddie, Kit, Jackie and Jen were really bored about their whole life and all and wished that they could have better things than life itself. They’re talking about adventure, spills and thrills—just anything to brighten up their Dullsville life.

Their chance came when the Ministry of Education held an open entry to all students to a script/short story writing contest. Students were allowed to choose their own members and form a group of maximum 7 members. As expected, The Beasties came together and after much discussion, they decided to write a horror short story.

Things didn’t go out too well in the beginning. Due to their Dullsville surroundings, they could not find the perfect plot for their story. That was until one night when Jackie and Jen were watching a horror movie ‘The Haunting’. Jackie suddenly popped out an idea that she found the perfect place to perk up their horrific creativity. She suggested spending a night at a run-down bungalow near the interiors which was said to be haunted after a bulk robbery that killed everyone in the house.

Her suggestion freaked some out, excited the others. After much thought by the gang, they all decided to go. They got on their scooters (actually 2 shared 1 scooter each, the other 3 shared another) and drove off to the interiors. They had a picnic on the way and Kit and Heendra had their first taste of spookiness when they came across the gardener (whom they don’t know came from that house) Benedict. A minor scare for the road, but they continued on their way.

Finally, after quite a journey down the interiors of Rasa Ria, they reached the run-down, spooky house. It was big, spacey and really grand, but still spooky even by day. There, instead of adventure and spills and thrills to enhance their ideas for their story, horror awaits them.

There had been loads of scary stuff as they tried to stay alive in that house: seeing their double, heads falling out of paintings, getting themselves locked in, and most of all, being chased by that demented Benedict who was bent on killing them. It was a battle to stay alive in that house of fear for the night until they finished their story before the deadline—or their death!

As the story continues to unfold, The Beastie gang began to disappear one by one. First it was Lan and Heendra. The rest of the gang found out from the diary of the rich family who was killed—Kristina Krystal—that she and that Benedict had been in love for a while but was objected by her parents because she was too young, and I mean way too young to be with him (difference of 10 years—she was 12).

Then Kit became the next disappearo victim. As the gang set out to search her and the rest of the gang, they, too, began to disappear, starting with Eddie, then finally Fay and Jen. Jackie was left all alone to fend the demented gardener.

As the story continues, Jackie found out the rest of the story from Benedict before he tried to kill her (there’s one gory scene where Jackie got her arm chopped off!): After secretly being together, Kristina and Benedict tried to convince Mr. Krystal to allow them to get married. When Mr. Krystal found out that she was pregnant, he threatened to kill the child within her, and that’s where all hell broke loose.

After killing the entire household, young Kristina was so terrified that she actually attacked Benedict, which prompted him to kill her as well. When he realized what he had done, he was so devastated that he kept her body frozen cold in a secret underground room and guarded the house ever since, as his way of defending his love and keeping the whole murder a secret.

After finishing his story, he went back to his demented state and was in the verge to kill her. She thought she was done for until she realized that she was already outside the house with the rest of the gang. It was a wonder that they even survived the attack without a scratch.

They rushed back home and finished their story and gave it a title called 'The Night of Eternity'. They passed it up to their teacher-in-charge and won grand prize for their story. They used the prize money to tracel to Japan after their exams. They even passed with flying colours.

Everything became weird after they got back from Japan. Although more good stuff happened, the people around them don't seem to notice them. In fact, they literally couldn't even see them! Jackie decided to return to the haunted house, taking the gang with her. That's where they found out that they were actually very much dead and they were travelling around as souls with unfinished jobs to do. Once their tasks were done, they couldn't be seen anymore.

Needless to say, they became the cursed souls of the dead, unable to leave the house forever...

A Wish Come True (A Short Story)

I woke up with a start when I found myself in a very unfamiliar place. The bed I was lying on was grand—an English-quilting blanket and 2 soft pillows with flowery laces. The whole place was fit for a king! Suddenly the door opened and there stood my dream prince: Katsuya Kimura! I gasped in astonishment for he was actually a cartoon character. I did not know that he really exist. “Wake up, dear,” he said and pulled off the blanket and handed it to a woman who looked like the maid. “You will be late for work.” “Work?” I asked. “Yes! Work! Have you forgotten your own comic workhouse, baby dear?” Comic workhouse?! I…I have became a cartoonist? That was my wildest dreams! Being a cartoonist! I undressed and changed into my beige T-shirt and black trousers at once and hurriedly finished my breakfast. Katsuya drove me to the workhouse. My, my, was it big! I’ve never seen a bigger place than this! Katsuya kissed me and said, “See you at four, OK, baby?” I blushed scarlet. I always wan...

Hans and Hilda

Once upon a time there was an old miller who had two children who were twins. The boy-twin was named Hans, and he was very greedy. The girl-twin was named Hilda, and she was very lazy. Hans and Hilda had no mother, because she died whilst giving birth to their third sibling, named Engel, who had been sent away to live wtih the gypsies. Hans and Hilda were never allowed out of the mill, even when the miller went away to the market. One day, Hans was especially greedy and Hilda was especially lazy, and the old miller wept with anger as he locked them in the cellar, to teach them to be good. "Let us try to escape and live with the gypsies," said Hans, and Hilda agreed. While they were looking for a way out, a Big Brown Rat came out from behind the log pile. "I will help you escape and show you the way to the gypsies' campl," said the Big Brown Rat, "if you bring me all your father's grain." So Hans and Hilda waited until their father let them out, ...

I've Learned...

Written by Andy Rooney, a man who had the gift of saying so much with so few words. Rooney used to be on 60 Minutes TV show. I've learned.... That the best classroom in the world is at the feet of an elderly person. I've learned.... That when you're in love, it shows. I've learned .... That just one person saying to me, 'You've made my day!' makes my day. I've learned.... That having a child fall asleep in your arms is one of the most peaceful feelings in the world. I've learned.... That being kind is more important than being right. I've learned.... That you should never say no to a gift from a child. I've learned.... That I can always pray for someone when I don't have the strength to help him in any other way. I've learned.... That no matter how serious your life requires you to be, everyone needs a friend to act goofy with. I've learned.... That sometimes all a person needs is a hand to hold and a heart to understand. I...
